The Westwood Volunteer Ambulance Corps invites you to volunteer with us.

To be eligible to volunteer, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

Any person of good character who:

Is over the age of 16 (except associate member who must have valid driving privileges for 3 years in the state of NJ), and
Resides in Westwood*, or
Works in Westwood, or
lives within a 3 mile radius of the building

CLASSES OF MEMBERSHIP

Probationary: A person who has applied and voted in by the general membership but has not completed the courses required by the State of New Jersey. New members are certified minimally in CPR. While taking the EMT course, trainees are assigned to a weekly crew and respond to assist the crew in moving a patient or by carrying equipment.
Certified Probationary: A person who has applied and been voted in by the general membership and has completed the courses required by the State of New Jersey.
Associate/Driver: A member who has completed an Ambulance Operations Course and carries a current CPR certification and a valid New Jersey driver's license.
Active: A member who has completed the courses as required by the State of New Jersey and has all his/her cards up to date. Emergency Medical Technicians-Ambulance (EMT-B) - EMT’s have taken 220 hours of classroom and practical training typically at one of Bergen County’s EMS Training Facilities (http://www.bergenEMS.org – Paramus or http://www.bergenemt.org - Mahwah), spent 10 hours in an emergency room, and passed the State Certification exam.
Youth: A member between the ages of 16-18 years.
Auxiliary: A person who expresses a desire to further the purposes of the organization but who does not desire to be an ambulance attendant.
